Departing from Hampton Harbour Boat and Sailing Club in the coastal town of Dampier, just 20 km from Karratha, this 90-minute tour offers a front-row seat to the fascinating mix of marine biodiversity and industrial scale.

Cruise past the infrastructure of the Port of Dampier, the second largest bulk export port in the world. It exports iron ore, salt, liquefied natural gas, anhydrous ammonia and other cargo from its dedicated terminals.

Despite the high volumes of shipping and industrial activity in the area, the adjacent Dampier Archipelago has been identified as the richest area of biodiversity in Western Australia and is home to several endangered species. Between late June and early October, keep an eye out for humpback whales, which sometimes rest with their calves in the calm harbour waters. If conditions allow, we’ll pause for a respectful whale-watching experience, a highlight for many guests.

As the day winds down, watch the sun dip below the rugged Pilbara coastline, casting a golden glow across ships, islands and the harbour waters. It’s a striking contrast – where industry meets one of Western Australia’s most breathtaking natural backdrops.
